Yimene Calderon

Yimene Calderón is an Afro-Honduran woman, proud of her Garifuna cultural roots. Since her adolescence, she has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the development of her community, studying economics and moving to La Ceiba to work with ODECO to leverage her knowledge to develop and improve the quality of life for Afro-Honduran populations. She remains linked to community work in Honduras and at the regional level, believes in the potential of its culture, in equity, respect for diversity and in building a world free from racism and racial discrimination where the right to decide for all people is respected.

 Yimene has worked as an official and consultant with several institutions such as OXFAM, IOM, Fundación Avina, IDB, World Bank, Alianza Americas, Congreso de Honduras, and others. At the moment, Mrs. Calderón is a member of the Board of Directors of ODECO and Vice President of ONECA, from these functions she fights for sustainable integral development with identity for the Afro-descendant population.
